Let Afi and Zozo tell you about being prediabetic

Did you know?

It’s helpful to think about of insulin as a key that helps sugar leave or bloodstream and enter locked cells. The more sugar we have in our bloodstream, waiting to get into cells, the more insulin our bodies produce to help unlock our cells. The problem is if we let too much sugar build up in our bloodstream, we will have too many keys trying to unlock our cell doors, and the keys will stop working. This is what happens in type 2 diabetes. You can think of prediabetes as the point where the lock is jammed, but by cleaning it up the key will begin to work just fine. Afi and Zozo can explain a bit more about how to clean up your body’s sugar locks or insulin receptors.
